Farmers Branch Municipal Court has achieved a Texas access to justice milestone: over 1,100 misdemeanors resolved online with Matterhorn.
Farmers Branch Municipal Court in Texas implemented the use of online dispute resolution (ODR) in January 2018. The court allows people to contest and resolve misdemeanor infractions – including traffic tickets, warrants, and code enforcement – online.
ODR in Farmers Branch has increased access to justice: fifty-two percent of people who used the system said they would not otherwise have been able to appear in court. Seventy-two percent of people accessed the online platform using a mobile device.
Congratulations to Court Administrator, Kevin Barrett, City Prosecutor Nicole Corr, Presiding Judge Terry Carnes, and the entire Farmers Branch Municipal Court staff for reaching this ODR milestone and their efforts to extend access to justice in Farmers Branch, Texas.
